Nausica, an electrifying Italian artist and producer, has been setting the Tech House scene ablaze since she first stepped behind the decks in 2010. Her magnetic and stylish presence, coupled with her innovative musical creations, has captured the attention and support of the world\’s top artists, including industry giants like Mark Knight, Carl Cox, and Solomun, propelling her to the top of the charts. Before her rise in the electronic music scene, Nausica began her career as a model and global Miss Playmate, becoming the face of international campaigns for brands like Casadei and Karl Lagerfeld. However, her true passion for music quickly redirected her path towards the DJ booth, where her sophisticated musical taste and knack for blending diverse sounds catapulted her into prominence. With over 300 performances in various esteemed clubs, including Tenax in Florence and Ministry of Sound, and notable appearances on main stages like the Nameless Music Festival, Nausica has solidified her status as one of the underground scene\’s most promising artists.

ー Hello, Nausica! We are happy to see you on the pages of Tune in Mag! How are you? What are you working on now? How busy does this spring promise to be compared to winter?
ー Hi, it\’s really a pleasure for me. Thank you very much for this wonderful opportunity. I\’m very well. Right now I\’m looking for the right inspiration to create new music. Spring is always extremely busy. The days are starting to get longer and the sun, the flowers, and the chirping of the birds help my mind.
ー What brought you to the world of electronic music? We know that you started a career as a model. How did your early experiences in modeling and as a global Miss Playmate influence your approach to music and performance?
ー It\’s true, I started as a Model, but I landed on Play Boy when I had already started to DJ. Unfortunately, I live in an extremely bigoted country. Here with us, if you are a very beautiful girl, you need to prove more than anyone else. I approached the world of music in 2008, when my family and I decided to manage a club. We hosted many international guests. I was attracted only and exclusively to the Console. Then I signed up for a course to learn how to mix and nothing, I realized that it was my path.
ー Can you share the story behind the creation of \”Teke Teke\”, your upcoming track on Material, which is included in the \”Miami Skulls\” album?
ー I produced the song \”TEKE TEKE\” a year ago. You all know the biblical times of some labels. The vocals were sampled from another record. I simply created an extremely powerful base for the track, as I always try to do. Tested and played, I\’d say it works very well.
ー What are your personal values that are key in your life and career? And what do you value about working with labels?
ー I am a simple girl, raised in a simple family. I am sensitive and extremely sunny. Fierce to the right degree, but never willing to crush anyone, as often happens in the musical environment. I believe a lot in human relationships ALWAYS, but I have often received many disappointments. It\’s a shame, because being positive is the key to success. The Etichette with whom I collaborate has given me many opportunities for personal growth as well as professional growth. Reaching certain levels then allows you to work well from every point of view with these giants of music. I appreciate the seriousness, punctuality and above all the fantastic advice I have received which is helping me on my way to success.
ー Your tracks have received support from top artists like Carl Cox and Solomun. How does it feel to have your work recognized by such industry giants? Which of the famous artists do you dream of collaborating with?
ー For me, 2023 was a year of hard work and also a bit of luck. Knowing that the giants of Music have played my Tracks pushes me to do better and better. Obviously without the tremendous support of Toolroom and Moon Harbor, it would never have happened. I saved and posted all the media videos everywhere to never lose sight of the progress I\’ve made over 13 years. Tough years, where despondency often sets in. But never give up, always with my head held high to fight to achieve my best goals.
ー You\’ve played in more than 300 different clubs, including iconic venues like Tenax in Florence, in different cities and countries. What gig has been the most memorable for you? How do you adapt your sets for such diverse environments?
ー Today, without any presumption, I am able to adapt my sets without having to distort myself too much, thanks to my musical background. The greatest experience for me was the \”Modena Park\”, the Concerto of a great Italian Rock. Star \”Vasco Rossi\”. Seeing 230,000 people jumping and screaming to my music was truly incredible. I love big stages, but especially the energy that the super crowd gives you. I hope to repeat a similar experience sooner or later. Maybe someday I\’ll open a Coldplay concert or even Madonna (who was born in the same region as me). It would be a dream!
ー With a career that spans over a decade, how do you keep your sound fresh and continue to evolve in the tech house genre?
ー I don\’t think there is a one-size-fits-all recipe. My secret is to listen to music constantly. I have 30,000 vinyl records at home that I have always listened to. But I\’m open to various sounds of any musical genre, to capture the ingredients that can be useful to include in my tracks. Music is a broad and wonderful topic, and my ears are predisposed to listen to all genres, and then use the best in my productions.
ー Tell three interesting facts about yourself we have never heard.
ー I graduated as a \”Mechanical Expert\” and in a school of 3000 students of which 2998 men and only 2 women, in the last year I was Head of the Institute. In short, a failed tomboy.
ー In 2012 I organized a punitive expedition of around 2000 people to free the puppies from \”Green Hill\”, a facility that bred Beagles destined for experimentation.
ー I live on my family\’s farm, where we make sheep\’s cheese. Our beloved animals are not destined for slaughter and this makes me really proud. The little lambs smell incredibly sweet and good, they are really like babies, wonderful. They give lots of kisses and follow me everywhere. I love animals more than humans.
