MRD Drops Hypnotic New Track \”Honest Times,\” Teases EP \’Misled Youth\’ on Mad Decent/Live From Earth

MRD, the Norwegian producer known for his genre-blending soundscapes, took another step forward with his latest single, Honest Times, released on October 9 via Mad Decent. This track provides a tantalizing preview of MRD’s upcoming EP, Misled Youth, set to drop on November 20. Mixing ethereal synths with nostalgic vocal hooks, Honest Times is a melodic journey that showcases MRD\’s ability to merge the worlds of trance, punk, and electronic seamlessly.

Following on from his July single, Fucking Highschool People, this latest track continues to carve out MRD’s unique sound—one that pulses with the DIY ethos of his skate-punk roots, yet feels utterly contemporary. The track reflects MRD’s knack for taking influences from his early days in Oslo’s skate scene and blending them with high-octane trance. In doing so, he aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia while pushing listeners to reimagine their connection with electronic music.

Inspired by his experiences in both punk bands and the underground electronic scene, MRD draws from his personal history to shape Misled Youth, a project he describes as an exploration of his formative years and a tribute to the iconic skate video of the same name. With this new EP, he continues to craft a sound that is all his own—where heavy basslines, driving beats, and evocative melodies blur the lines between techno and the genres he grew up loving.

As he readies Misled Youth for release next month, MRD looks ahead to sharing this audacious blend of punk nostalgia and trance energy with audiences worldwide.
