Cedric Gervais and Nile Rodgers Reimagine Sister Sledge\’s Classic \”We Are Family\” for a New Generation

GRAMMY-winning DJ/producer Cedric Gervais and legendary funk icon Nile Rodgers have teamed up to release a fresh, modern take on Sister Sledge\’s timeless anthem, \”We Are Family.\” Originally written and produced by Rodgers and his CHIC Organization partner Bernard Edwards in 1979, the iconic track has been reworked into a dancefloor anthem that blends Cedric’s signature big-room house energy with Nile’s legendary funk grooves. Out now on Armada Music, this version reintroduces the track to a new audience while staying true to its uplifting message of unity.

The reimagined \”We Are Family\” pulses with vibrant basslines and shimmering synths, with Rodgers’ unmistakable guitar riffs adding a rhythmic heartbeat throughout. This new version captures the essence of both artists, merging Cedric’s modern electronic sound with Nile’s soulful funk style. Following the success of Gervais\’ summer hit \”Switch\” with David Guetta, this collaboration builds on the pair’s earlier reinterpretation of \”Everybody Dance,\” which was released in 2020 to widespread acclaim.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Gervais shared, “We had so much fun recreating \’Everybody Dance,\’ so when the opportunity came to work on \’We Are Family,\’ it was an easy yes. Nile’s passion for music is contagious, and this song’s positive message feels more relevant than ever.” Rodgers added, “This song has always been about unity, and in today’s world, that message is stronger than ever. It’s an honor to work with Cedric again and bring some joy to people.”

This new release, with its nostalgic roots and modern flair, is poised to light up global dancefloors, reminding us all that despite our differences, \”We Are Family.\”
